Are Luxury Clients Online? Rethinking Marketing for Affluent Consumers
Today, “luxury” is a label applied to everything from high-end finishes to customer service. But what does it really mean, and where do you find the right audience? Many in the design industry think luxury consumers aren’t active online, but the data tells a different story.
Using two case studies, I’ll show the difference in creating and executing a digital marketing strategy for a budget-friendly and high-end design firm. Audiences will walk away with a roadmap to adapting their marketing to a new era of luxury, where affluent clients are younger, more diverse and digitally savvy.
Interview Questions
- How has the definition of “luxury” changed, and what values matter most to today’s affluent clients?
- What are some common misconceptions about marketing to luxury clients online, and how should designers rethink their approach?
- Can you share examples of firms successfully attracting luxury clients online? What unique strategies set them apart?
- How would you advise a design firm looking to define its own “flavour” of luxury?
Social Media vs Google: Which One Do You Choose?
With so many marketing channels available, it’s easy to spread yourself thin trying to be on all of them. The hard reality is that the channel doesn’t matter. What matters is understanding the psychology of how your customers shop online.
Using real case studies, I’ll teach you the difference between social media and Google, how to choose which is best for your business, and how to avoid common pitfalls business face when putting together their online marketing strategies.
Interview Questions
- How have the psychology and behaviours of design consumers changed over the past 20 years?
- How should designers go about making marketing decisions? What mindset and frameworks should they use?
- Can you share case studies of design firms that successfully use social media? And another that uses Google?
Specializing Makes Sales and Marketing Easier
Designers often fear that becoming too specialized may cause a loss of business. From our experience, however, we see specialized designers thrive. They’re able to attract and convert high-quality leads, streamline their processes to increase profitability, and become go-to experts for premium clients.
While many talk about the importance of niching down, not many talk about the how. With case studies, I’ll share how we create and execute marketing strategies for ourselves and for clients to make business easier.
Interview Questions
- Using research and case studies, what are the benefits of specializing?
- What holds the design and build professionals back from specializing?
- Once a business has made the decision to specialize, what do they have to do next?
